What counts as a "message"?
A message is a single user-initiated prompt sent to an agent (including simulated user messages). Sub-calls made by combo-agents do not count as additional messages toward the Hobby limit, but each sub-call does incur an orchestration fee on Dev Pro.
Do I need a credit card for the Hobby plan?
No. Sign in and start building immediately with no payment details required. A card is only needed when you upgrade to Dev Pro or add credits.
What happens when my credits run out?
Production API calls will be rejected until you top up. Your agents and all configuration remain intact. You can add credits at any time from the billing panel inside the app.
Can I cancel Dev Pro?
Dev Pro is a one-way upgrade — you cannot downgrade back to Hobby. If you stop adding credits and your credit balance reaches zero, production API calls will be rejected and your deployed agents will stop responding to end users. Your configuration (agents, apps, files) is never deleted; adding credits restores full functionality immediately.
How does the production API key work?
A production API key lets you call your agents server-to-server from your own backend using the Backprompter SDK. There is a one-time $10 activation fee per app. See Tutorial 3 for a full walkthrough.
Can I run Backprompter locally or on my own infrastructure?
Yes. We offer a self-hosted build for running Backprompter locally — with local models, other providers, or fully air-gapped. It's licensed separately; email info@planosophy.info for a quote.
What models are available?
Any model available on OpenRouter can be used. LLM cost is the model's listed price plus Backprompter's 15% markup, or exactly the model's listed price if you use BYOK.
